Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google, made a surprising return to the company in 2023 after stepping back from day-to-day operations. He shared that his return was motivated by his deep scientific interest in artificial intelligence (AI). Since then, Brin has been actively involved in helping Google develop and train its latest AI models, especially the Gemini series, which aims to keep the company competitive against rivals like OpenAI and Perplexity. Brin revealed that he visits the Google office almost every day, showing his commitment and passion for AI research. He appeared at Google’s I/O 2024 conference, where he humorously mentioned that he “tortures” Demis Hassabis, the head of Google DeepMind, by constantly challenging him. Brin’s involvement signals Google’s determination to maintain leadership in AI technology.
